Uranus - first ruler of the universe and first modern planet to be discovered.
Aquarius is an air sign, represented as a healer, and water carrier to the gods of Mount Olympus. The symbol for Aquarius is the Water Bearer, symbolically and eternally giving life and spiritual food to the world. This is a symbol of transmutation. The water bearer takes water in its vessel (the element of emotion), cleanses it, and returns it to share with the gods. The water from the vessel washes away the past hurts, pains, and anguish. Dispensing water that freely represents creation, truth, and life force energy freely to the world.
The sign of Aquarius is forward-looking and growth-oriented and specifically concerned with equality and freedom. Aquarius seeks to dispense knowledge and a vision of equality and individuality to all. Aquarius energy is electric individuality that serves the greater good.
Aquarius energy wants you to know who you are and actively use that knowledge in the world, to live completely authentically and honestly, to change essential elements into a superior form, and to transmute emotions into intellect.
This full moon falls after the cross quarter holiday on the wheel of the year called Lammas or Lughnasadh - Lammas marks the change from growing season to harvest season.
The Lammas season falls as the midpoint between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox. Its a time in between, a portal between seasons, and this full moon cycle pulls in contrasting energy as Aquarius sits opposite Leo in the zodiac. Leo season is about the self - personal freedom and creativity and how we see ourselves. Aquarius looks toward the collective - group creativity and freedom and wants us working towards the greater good of the community.
This full moon during Lammas really wants us to think about the cooperation needed to go our own way and also make decisions that are in the best interest of everyone. Which makes sense in a harvest sense - you need to worry about your own crops, but often you can't do it alone, and you want to ensure that everyone is taken care of before winter sets in. You have to worry about yourself and the group and think and do what's best for both. Phew.
This isn't easy work and if you feel yourself pulled back and forth, then YEP that sounds about right. No doubt it can be uncomfortable and confusing on what to do and where to go with all these feelings. The general advice given during an Aquarius full moon is to just be aware of how you are feeling and be willing to move on. And as always with a full moon - release, forgive, release.
Affirmations:
I allow my life to unfold in spite of unexpected turns and changes.
I show the world my true self.
I do not fear change.
I do not fear transformation.
I am prepared to move on.
I focus on the beauty in life.
I release what needs to go.
I show up.
I show out.
AQUARIUS MOON RITUAL
Full Moon in Aquarius is a great time for embracing innovation, independence, and social change. Aquarius is associated with originality, technology, and humanitarian concerns, so your ritual can focus on personal growth, future planning, and connecting with your community. Here’s a detailed ritual you can follow:
1. Preparation:
Set the Space: Find a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Light some candles and arrange any crystals or items you might use.
Gather Supplies:
A journal and pen
Crystals (amethyst, lapis lazuli, or clear quartz are good choices for Aquarius energy)
Essential oils or incense (e.g., sandalwood or lavender)
A small bowl of water
A vision board or materials for creating one (magazines, scissors, glue, etc.)
2. Grounding and Centering:
Meditate: Begin by sitting comfortably and taking a few deep breaths. Close your eyes and visualize a bright, full moon above you, its light enveloping you and filling you with calm and clarity.
Grounding Exercise: Imagine roots growing from the soles of your feet into the Earth, anchoring you and connecting you with its steady, nurturing energy.
3. Release and Reflection:
Journaling: Write about what you wish to release. Think about old patterns or habits that no longer serve your higher self or goals. Reflect on how these might be holding you back from achieving your fullest potential.
Release Ritual: Light a small piece of paper with your written release intentions and carefully burn it in a safe container (like a fireproof bowl) while visualizing these old patterns dissolving into the flame.
4. Embrace Innovation:
Vision Board: Create or update a vision board that reflects your dreams, aspirations, and goals for the future. Focus on what you want to achieve and how you can bring innovation into your life. Think about how you can use your unique talents to make a difference.
Affirmations: Write down or recite affirmations related to embracing change and creativity. Examples:
“I am open to new ideas and opportunities.”
“I embrace my uniqueness and use it to inspire others.”
“I am aligned with my highest purpose.”
5. Connection and Community:
Group Intention: If possible, connect with like-minded individuals or groups, either in person or virtually. Share your intentions and goals for the future, and discuss ways to support each other’s growth.
Community Action: Consider planning or participating in an activity that benefits your community or aligns with your humanitarian goals.
6. Moonlight Meditation:
Moon Gazing: Spend some time under the light of the full moon, if weather permits. Sit quietly and soak in the moon’s energy. Allow it to inspire you and fill you with ideas.
Visualization: Visualize the moonlight illuminating your path forward, highlighting new opportunities and insights. See yourself taking bold steps in life.
7. Closing the Ritual:
Gratitude: Thank the moon, yourself, and any spiritual guides or energies you feel connected to. Express gratitude for the insights and inspirations you’ve received.
Clean Up: Extinguish candles safely, dispose of any ashes from your release ritual, and tidy your space.
